Vancouver Island’s 32,134 square kilometers provide a wide variety of places to live and visit in the mildest climate in Canada. It’s population of roughly 750,000 people (half of which live in the Greater Victoria area) provide plenty of opportunities to make new friends, and yet the Island’s dimensions of nearly 483 km long by 97 km wide allows for spacious living. Golfing and gardening almost year round are two favourite pastimes. There is also an abundance of fresh seafood to taste, world famous boating destinations and many hiking trails to enjoy. Vancouver Islanders take pleasure in living a relaxed, friendly and culturally diverse coastal lifestyle.

From south to north, east to west, Vancouver Island boasts some of the most spectacular and varied scenery in the world. You can enjoy the beautiful gardens and buildings in Victoria, located at the southern end of the Island. Travelling north, you can view stunning scenery on your way to Nanaimo. In Nanaimo you can shop to your hearts content and benefit from many cultural activities. Near the centre of Vancouver Island you will find Strathcona Provincial Park, which contains the only glacier on the Island. On the west coast of the Island, you will find the towns of Ucluelet and Tofino which have some of the most stunning beaches in all of Canada and a relaxed lifestyle. Farther up Island you can fish for many species as well as see some spectacular coniferous ‘big trees’, which include species of hemlock, western red cedar and Douglas fir among others.
